Here we are, the first week in May. We all survived the long winter and now is the time to get more active and to eat more healthy. We all go through good times and bad times when it comes to our diet but I find that most of us have an easier time during the Spring and Summer seasons. The farmer’s markets are opening up and we can find different varieties of our favorite veggies. We also have fresh seasonal veggies to choose from and the fresh fruit season is just around the corner now.
We also spend more time outdoors which means that we become more active. Our lifestyle changes and we start to see positive overall results.
Let’s take advantage this May and make it a month where we bump up our efforts to eat right and move more. Let’s look at May like a starting point where we make better choices and become serious about our daily nutrition. I know that many of you have an excellent diet and I salute you for that but there are many others who are struggling right now and they need some positive ideas and reinforcement to get out of their rut and move forward in a more positive light.
It is all connected. When we eat better, we feel better. When we move more, we feel better. Just by fixing these two things, we will also sleep better. Who doesn’t need better sleep? When we sleep better our moods are better. See how our life greatly improves! We need to find the place where we love ourselves enough that we stop thinking “I deserve that donut because I work so hard” and change that way of thinking to “I deserve to eat a salad with fresh veggies and organic chicken because I am worth it”.
Let’s make the decision to fill our fridge with whole, live, fresh, natural, good quality food. Visit your local farmers market and try this season’s latest bounty. Grab some raw nuts and seeds to snack on. Clean out all the processed foods from your pantry. Throw it away or if you feel bad about food loss, give it to a neighbor. Try some new dishes that are filled with veggies. Try new raw veggies. Treat yourself to something different. Don’t get stuck in a food rut. May is the time to expand our food repertoire.
I want you to get super serious about your diet this May. Plan on putting some thought and consideration about your latest goals and how you are going to achieve them. The weather is improving, the days are getting longer, we are moving more and we should be sleeping better.
Cheers to May and getting serious about our health and our goals.
